    The Safety Supervisor is responsible for the promotion of exceptionally safe teamwork with the operations teams stationed at customer work sites as well as Operation offices.  Individual will assist  in the resolution of safety issues and the performance of field safety assessments. A Safety Supervisor promotes enhanced performance and provides safety training by offering coaching, mentoring and training to the administrators, facilitators, clerical staff and management teams. They interact with field operations by providing support for department initiatives and other various programs. 

    Responsibilities

    • Provide personal leadership and set an example of following all safe work practices and procedures.
    • Insure implementation of all job site safety activities.
    • Conduct frequent jobsite inspections, focusing on unsafe conditions and unsafe work behavior. Insure that corrective action is taken to correct deficiencies.
    • Work with foremen/general foremen in planning how to perform non-routine job tasks safely.
    • Conduct and participates in job site safety meetings
    • Insures that safety rules, policies and procedures are being followed and enforced. Inform foremen and the Jobsite Supervisor of persistent and frequent violations.
    • Conduct jobsite safety orientations by using the Company Jobsite Orientation Program".
    • Maintain files on safety activities including first aid/near miss log, incident reports, inspections, OSHA log, training records, etc.
    • Serve as a site resource on matters of safety and health.
    • Monitor compliance of Company, client and governmental safety rules and regulations.
    • Conduct safety training as necessary. Forward completed training documentation to the appropriate location.
    • Help to determine the appropriate hazard control technique/corrective actions necessary to correct recognized hazards.
    • Provide on-site first aid and CPR capabilities.
    • Act as a liaison between client safety department and the Company’s corporate safety department.
    • Investigate each incident, including first aids and near misses and participate in root cause analysis as required. Insure that Supervisor's Incident Reports are completed and that witness statements are completed by the injured employee, other employees involved in the incident and witnesses. 
    • Transport injured employees to the medical facility when required. Communicate with physician and other medical personnel on patient's condition, prognosis, restrictions and instructions.  Obtain medical authorization forms, reports, releases and other related documentation from the clinic and send to HSE Safety Manager.  Keep HSE Safety Manager informed of results of follow-up visits and send in paperwork.
    • Make verification checks to see that employees operating equipment or performing other tasks that require specific training and/or experience possess such training and/or experience and have proper documentation with them when required. (i.e., aerial lift, forklift, confined space, powder actuated tools, etc.)
    • Coordinate emergency/evacuation procedures.
    • Assist in development of site-specific safety procedures.
    • Verify that employees are issued and use the appropriate personal protective equipment for the potential and existing hazards.
    • The Safety Supervisor performs routine safety training sessions and holds toolbox talks with the crews on job sites
    • Performs regular jobsite inspections of all crews in order to identify any unsafe work practices and unsafe conditions, documenting the visits on observation forms and forwarding findings to various administrative and management personnel.
    • Responsible for the coordination of supplemental inspections when new equipment, substances or processes are introduced as well as when new or formerly undistinguishable hazards are discovered.
    • Assists with the completion of project safety planning and hazard investigation with supervisors, foremen, and managers on new jobs.
    • Verify that corrective processes are finished in a suitable amount of time for all identified hazards.
    • Verify the completion of safety recommendations made by the insurance carrier, safety committee or any other safety consultants as directed by the HSE Manager.
    • Ensures that proper fire extinguishers and first aid supplies are kept on or near Company equipment and vehicles.

    Qualifications

    • 2 to 5 years of construction field safety experience
    • Knowledgeable of safety procedures, field hazards, construction equipment and materials
    • Solid foundation and familiar OSHA regulations
    • Certifications and training as a safety professional a plus
    • Computer proficient
    • Solid interpersonal and business skills

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, walk, stoop, walk up stairs, tall, hear, and bend, possibly for extended periods of time, as need in order to complete or monitor various work tasks
    • Ability to hear, understand and respond appropriately to verbal requests made in person and over the radio or telephone
    • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
    • Ability to reach and stretch using hands and arms, work with hands and fingers
    • Ability to carry between 5 and 50 pounds if necessary
    • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions including but not limited to confined space, heat, cold, dust, noise, mud, wet, fumes
    • Ability to compare, analyze, communicate, coordinate, compute, and evaluate during the work shift
    • Ability to work on job sites that may be in remote locations for extended periods of time.
