  • Overview

    Responsible for the design deliverables for a project and accountable for conformance with project and company procedures.

    Responsibilities

    • Support I/E design for assigned large industrial projects in midstream gas processing, petroleum refining, petrochemical, and upstream oil & gas industries
    • Develop/Check one lines, area class, duct banks, lighting, cable tray, heat trace, grounding, building plans, instrument location plans, conduit and cable schedule, wire diagrams, schematics, panel schedules, I/O cabinet drawings, elevations and multi-loop drawings
    • Interact with all engineering disciplines, engineering and construction project managers, and clients
    • Support the regular maintenance of project schedules for assigned project(s).
    • Support implementation procedures and systems to maximize department efficiency
    • Able to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities to achieve maximum efficiency
    • Self-motivated with skills to motivate others
    • With minimum supervision, performs design layouts and material take-off of systems and installations requiring a high degree of familiarity with design and construction techniques, codes and materials, equipment and costs in industry.
    • Ability to perform necessary design calculations in order to meet applicable codes and requirements including NEC.
    • Assume quality assurance of produced design products.
    • Has general understanding of other disciplines' roles in the design process.
    • Able to discuss routine technical problems and communicate effectively with immediate supervisor and other project personnel.
    • Participates in the training and mentoring of new CAD technicians and designers.
    • Required to make field trips in order to survey equipment and site conditions in order to prepare accurate design packages.

    Qualifications

    • 8+ years industrial I/E design experience with supervisor experience
    • Experience providing engineering support for process plants, compressor stations, and oil and gas projects
    • The most ideal candidate will come from a similar background and have I/E experience
    • AutoCAD required
    • Working knowledge of NEC and API 500
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
    • Strong Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Well developed, detail oriented organizational skills
    • Overtime may be required to meet work demands
    • Work experience in the process industries; ability to read and understand P&IDs
    • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle stress and meet urgent deadlines
    • Detail oriented with good technical and math skills
    • Pro-active teamwork communication skills and must work well with others
