Overview

As Saulsbury Industries continues to grow its core value offerings, we have defined a new role for a Commercial Director, Supply with a comprehensive understanding of the static and rotating equipment supply markets that support Oil & Gas, and Petrochemical projects including LNG. This person will have the ability to learn and understand the critical goals and success factors of Saulsbury’s Gulf Coast business and effectively select and manage suppliers who best support our requirements.  Equally important is strong internal collaboration with our technical, business development and project management teams.  The intent is for this role to add an enhanced focus on the development of greater commercial and market understanding of the major supply markets that are especially relevant to our Gulf Coast business. This role will report directly to Saulsbury’s VP and Chief Supply Chain Officer and on a dotted line to the VP and GM - Gulf Coast, and will be based in Saulsbury’s Houston office.

Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with internal stakeholders to ensure that business needs are met.
  • Deliver maximum value from deep category expertise and knowledge of market dynamics, engaging in both competitive and collaborative interactions with suppliers as appropriate.
  • Understand local priorities and develop category strategies accordingly, securing understanding and alignment from Gulf Coast and Saulsbury leadership. Lead supplier negotiations for major project buys. Ensure that Saulsbury presents a single face to its supply base for major equipment.
  • Drive and own supplier development and continuous performance improvement in this category on a holistic basis, including addressing needed quality and schedule improvements.
  • Identify, measure, and improve the value achieved from the equipment supply base over time, focusing well beyond price throughout the project life cycle.
  • Create optimal long term supplier relationships that enable Saulsbury to adopt technically innovative solutions. Identify new and advantaged sources that complement SI’s growing business needs
  • Manage all commercial activities in a manner compliant with Saulsbury’s core values, integrity in all internal and external interactions.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated customer focus, proactive, outstanding communication skills, strong at teamwork and building internal coalitions.
  • Knowledge of industry and its cost drivers, applicable laws and typical commercial structures, equipment and materials markets, and supply and demand fundamentals.
  • Respected negotiator, financially savvy, with a strategic outlook.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in supply chain.
  • Undergraduate 4-year degree required. MBA a plus.
