Senior Mechanical/Civil Estimator covering all aspects of estimating for Saulsbury’s Midstream/Oil & Gas division.  This includes both direct and indirect estimates, quantity take offs, unit rates, wage rates, material dollars, capital equipment, subcontracts, change management support, project benchmarking, proposal support, and project management support.


  • Prepare detailed estimates in accordance with the scope of work, specifications, and other documentation to identify and quantify changes in current projects, prepare quantity take-offs, determining manpower, equipment requirements, material items and subcontractors
  • Multi discipline experience a plus
  • Estimating support for change management
  • Solicit quotes from material and equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and specified manufacturers
  • Distributes and maintains control of bid documents between IFB and IFC including all revisions
  • Identifies special requirements for weather protection, cranes, hoists, temporary facilities and services
  • Ensures that all bid forms are completed and properly executed
  • Schedules and conducts estimate review meeting with the Division Manager, Construction Management Team, Estimating Manager, and/or business line management to finalize estimates and change orders
  • Ability to manage large volume of estimates and coordinate with other employees during bid process on large proposals


  • 5-10 year experience with industrial estimating with an emphasis in mechanical and piping
  • Competitive bid experience in the petro-chemical, gas processing, field service, refining and other heavy industrial facilities
  • Mechanical/piping field experience highly preferred
  • Knowledge or estimating strategies and techniques
  • Specific knowledge of the following areas are required for the position:
  • Mechanical equipment and process systems
  • Piping systems
  • Foundations and minor earthwork
  • Structural and support systems
  • Below grade piping systems
  • Coating systems
  • Produce quantity take-offs
  • Provide unit rates and material pricing
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and translate to pricing and risk mitigation
  • Ability to conceptualize estimates without complete information
  • Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities
  • Knowledge of estimating software programs
  • Occasional travel required
