This role reports to the Project Manager. This is a working lead position assigned to a fast paced project in the field. Establishment and proactive management to project baseline, change management, trending, forecasting, analysis, and project reporting are crucial to project success. 

The Project Controls Team Lead provides technical and administrative direction to the Saulsbury project team.  This position has the responsibility to act as a subject matter expert for Project Controls work processes, procedures, systems, and the development of historical information.  It also supports the Executive Leadership team as well as business line management
. This position requires frequent interface with other disciplines such as functional/management leadership, project personnel, engineers, and Project Controls/Estimator members. 


  • Requires a combination of salesmanship, technical empathy, superior skill with Project Controls tools, estimating, cost engineering, scheduling, construction management, and corporate business management
  • Individuals in this role must have the ability to lead teams of Project Management and Project Controls professionals.
  • Lead all activities with respect to business management, cost management, and planning for a major project including functional objectives and initiatives
  • Support and interface with Business Development in the preparation of proposals, commercial pricing, and execution of projects in areas specific to Project Controls
  • Lead Project Controls Team meetings and identify and assign staff to Project Controls positions consistent with the individual’s abilities and career development
  • Responsible for the quality, timeliness, and consistency of Project Controls work produced by the project
  • Coordinate the provision of historical data and ensure it is meaningful and normalized for reuse by the Estimating Department
  • Talent development and recruitment within sphere of influence
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Support and actively participate in Saulsbury Project Controls Initiatives including department training initiatives
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Maintain and enhance Project Controls techniques through associated professional organizations, software vendors, and other Project Controls Specialists within the engineering, procurement, and construction/construction management (EPC/EPCM) industry as well as client representatives
  • Provides leadership peers with data that allows them to make timely decisions which may result in increased opportunities
  • Leads risk management culture
  • Seeks innovation to improve processes
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and ten (15) years* of work-related experience. Directly relevant experience over a sustained period of time may be considered a suitable replacement for the Bachelor’s Degree
  • Systems knowledge and efficiencies, including Microsoft Office products as well as industry specific and Saulsbury home grown systems
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to develop or maintain relationships with project teams and clients
  • Exhibits strong leadership qualities
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
