Overview

This position is responsible for activities involved with the procurement of goods such as materials, tools, parts, and supplies for Commodities group.  Confers with vendors to obtain product information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. 

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Saulsbury policies procedures and safety practices.
  • Take an active role in procurement of commodity materials for Saulsbury projects by identifying potential suppliers, preparing inquiries, soliciting quotes and evaluating bids. Addresses exceptions to bids, and issues purchasing orders.
  • Maintain itemized procurement records on Spectrum and the procurement drive.
  • Contribute to the efforts of Expediters and Project Managers to ensure that material is delivered on schedule according to the construction field need dates.
  • Interface with technical support personnel on material and equipment specifications.
  • Build and develop relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Compares prices amongst various vendors in order to make sound purchasing decisions.
  • Reconciles discrepancies on price, mode of shipping and delivery time
  • Checks invoices for accuracy, and authorizes the accounts payable department to issue payment.

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years purchasing experience with all types of commodities for the oil and gas, refining, and/or petrochemical industries
  • Construction related experience highly preferred
  • Experience with “best practices” in purchasing
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal relations skills
  • Professional, ethical, team player willing to grow with Company
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and work in an environment or changing priorities
  • Skilled in the use of Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Is trustworthy and does not abuse authority or misappropriate funds.
